Dead Girl, is this the ‘new’ horror we have been craving?

Bloody-Disgusting featured the new poster for ‘Dead Girl’ yesterday along with the below trailer. The film apparently peaked the interest of horror fans during some film festival showings. As a result ‘Dead Girl’ is showing in a limited fashion in parts of the USA throughout July. The poster is pretty average, however the trailer looks suitably creepy, the film details the tale of two teenage boys, “who make a shocking discovery that not only threatens their friendship but also their lives. In a forgotten room of an abandoned asylum, they find a beautiful woman tied to a bed, and soon come to realize she is anything but dead.”

The website is fantastic, I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, there is nothing like efficient use of bugs, in this case flies… they just keep coming and buzzing!!!

So my question is this, to those of you located where the film is showing… Is this the ‘real’ horror film that the genre has been waiting for? Or just another angsty, dare I say it Twatlight (your my girl BJ-C!), just add zombies, pseudo horror romp?

For my money it looks promising with some potential good scares, and we all know my weakness for abandoned (or not) asylums!

This has all the making of discomfiting brilliance if the directors/actors can pull it off. The pathos of the perverse…
