Eric… True Blood’s leading vamp.

The new season of HBO’s True Blood has begun and the plot is rolling out at the rate of a transfiguring werewolf. It also seems that a true leading man has stepped up to the plate…
Apologies Bill Compton fans but there’s a new sheriff in town! That’s right, it appears the writers of the show have increased our exposure to Eric the local vampire region Sherrif, the 1000 year old Nordic vampire and owner of Fangtasia; and why wouldn’t they?
The True Blood website describes the character of Eric as follows:
“An old and powerful Nordic vampire, Eric’s cold will commands as much respect as his impressive stature. His expert political scheming and general disdain for human life won’t win Eric any friends, but despite his cold manipulations, there’s something undeniably attractive about him.”
Indeed (reaches for smelling salts)!!!
Seriously, Bill’s accent is appalling to the point of distraction, his continuous angst driven journey to mainstream combined with his yearning for the days of petty-coats and pinafores, is all getting a little tired.
Don’t get me wrong he is… nice.
He is a solid performer, the knight in shining armor, the crusader for undead ethics and altruistic in the sack. He is… nice.
Now Eric on the other hand has machismo, in spades.
What kind of vamp can have foils in his hair, dish out vampire justice, without any qualms what so ever, pull apart a prisoner limb by limb, and maintain pure essence of masculine vamp, and finish by asking ‘Is there blood in my hair?’
Sorry Bill, but it seems you have been usurped, at least for this sanguinary madame, which is surprising because I usually don’t go for blondes, long live the sheriff…
Now let’s see if we can get that blood out of your hair *sigh*.
