The Buried poster is freaking me out!

Greetings and Salutations.
I like to think I have a reasonably high threshold for fear and repulsion. With the exception of moths and people spitting in public, there are not many things that make my skin crawl. Being buried alive is one of the things that the mere thought of makes my breathing become a little shallow and my fingers start to get twitchy. I went through a period when I was younger, about six months, where I had recurring nightmares of being buried alive. So you can imagine how I felt when I saw the below screen shot from the upcoming film Buried.

Ick!
As you can see the film stars Ryan Reynolds and is directed by Rodrigo Corte`s. The film is essentially a one man show, filmed entirely within the coffin. The plot is as follows:
“Paul is a U.S. contractor working in Iraq. After an attack by a group of Iraqis he wakes to find he is buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone it’s a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap.”
*Shudder* The film makes its debut at Sundance next year. Will Ms Harker be waiting eagerly for this films release or will she be writing her will in stone to ensure she is cremated upon her demise? Probably the later!

December 6th, 2009 at 2:00 pmI feel inspired to do a list of buried alive movies. The one that got me was Premature Burial from RKO. I also get the willies from Nick’s burial in an episode of CSI, directed by Quentin Tarantino. To make things worse fire ants get into the coffin and start biting him all over. Yeesh!

December 15th, 2009 at 7:57 amI really enjoy ogling Ryan Reynolds, so I’m excited about this movie despite the fact that I probably will have sympathetic claustrophobia and an inability to breathe the whole time I’m watching!

January 28th, 2010 at 8:04 amThere’s a great Alfred Hitchcock Presents from the 60s (that was remade in the 80s) called “Final Escape” that gave me the willies. It’s about a prisoner that plots his (her in the 80’s version) escape using the prison undertaker as an accomplice, who he asks to bury him in the cemetery then come and dig him up. Really frightened me as a kid.
