Tim Burton’s Wonderland, curiouser and curiouser!

Alice in Wonderland may be stretching the bounds of horror, however I am blissing out in anticipation of the release of Tim Burton’s ‘Alice in Wonderland‘.
There has been released via a number of sites including Dread Central a set of character shots of the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp *sigh*), the White Queen (Anne Hathaway) and The Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter * meep*), in order to tease the masses! The USA Today site features a series of artwork to explore, giving a panoramic view of Burton’s Wonderland.
This is not the first collaboration between Burton and Depp and if their past body of work is anything to go by we are in for a treat. For those of you lucky rabbits who live in New York be sure to get along to the Museum of Modern Art to see the Tim Burton Exhibition (opening November 2009), if not then off with your head! The rest of us will just have to play croquet until Alice in Wonderlands release in March 2010!

Thirst… finally vampires who feed on blood and have sex!

Prior to the Cannes Film Festival Thirst was getting equal press to that of Anti Christ however a woman messing with her privates is always going to get media attention! So Chan-wook Park’s Thirst faded into the background a little, but its back. Bloody-Disgusting has just sent the word out that a new trailer for the film has arrived for its release in the USA on the 31st of July.
Personally, I have been anticipating this films release, the posters have been raunchy, the teaser trailers were intriguing. Finally we have some vampires who feed on blood, human blood and also get a bit of action *wink wink*! From the new trailer it looks like we are in for a treat, good scares, quality vamps, a bit of raunch and some wall climbing to boot!

Di Caprio joins the horror fraternity with ‘Shutter Island.’

Under the guidance of esteemed director Martin Scorsese, Leonardo Di Caprio is joining the horror fraternity of actors with the feature film ‘Shutter Island’. Thanks to the crew at First Showing for flagging the release of the official trailer.
I have a penchant for horror films with a psychiatric bend, particularly set in asylums, in the bad old days of institutions. I also love a horror flick where there is a question as to the mental sate of the protagonist, especially when this is done well, leaving you as the viewer questioning what was based in reality.
‘Shutter Island’ according to First Showing details:
“The story of two U.S. marshals, Teddy Daniels (Leonardo Di Caprio) and Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo), who are summoned to a remote and barren island off the cost of Massachusetts to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a murderess from the island’s fortress-like hospital for the criminally insane.”
The film is due for release n October, I think it has potential.
